Blue Poison Dart Frog

The endangered Blue Poison Dart Frog, also known by its indigenous Tirio name of Okipipi, is from the isolated rainforest of southern Suriname and northern Brazil. It is mainly found near streams during the day, but will occasionally be seen high in the treetops. Its poison skin, used by natives to make darts, is a result of a diet of poisonous ants. The conservation status of frogs is a major concern globally, with a significant proportion of species facing threats. Over one-third of amphibian species are considered threatened with extinction, and many populations are declining rapidly.

Frogs are particularly vulnerable due to a combination of factors. Their permeable skin makes them highly susceptible to environmental changes and pollutants in both water and on land, as they can absorb toxins directly into their bodies. Many frogs also have a two-part life cycle, relying on both aquatic and terrestrial habitats, making them vulnerable to the degradation or loss of either environment.

This realistic frog illustration in its habitat is available on a variety of products, from fine art prints to everyday essentials, including, cards, journals, mugs, pillows, t-shirts & hoodies, cutting boards & other home goods and tech accessories. Bringing wildlife art to your home and providing unique gifts for nature lovers, while helping to protect this important species. Museum quality prints available framed or unframed in a range of sizes and styles.
