Red snapper, also known as huachinango or pargo in Latin America, inhabit the Gulf of Mexico and south-eastern US Atlantic waters, and are a popular commercial and recreational fishing species. They school together in areas near rocky outcroppings, reefs and man-made structures such as oil-drilling platforms, and can be found as deep as 300 feet.
