Smooth dogfish, or dusky smooth-hounds, are members of the hound shark family, Triakidae, and were named for their tendency to approach prey in a pack, similar to dogs. They are nocturnal and feed primarily on crabs, lobsters and other crustaceans, using their flat teeth to grind down the tough shells. These flat teeth and their slender shape distinguish them from other sharks. Visit portfolio page to find out more.
