Privet Hawk-Moth (Sphinx ligustri)
The privet hawk-moth is one of the largest moths in the UK, commonly found in gardens and woodlands during the summer months. Also known as sphinx moths, hawk-moths are so named for their night vision and powerful flight abilities. Their notable pink banded markings, combined with their size of up to 12 cm, make them delightfully hard to miss!
